Hey hey wait a sec, who said FORMAT is the solution to all OS crashes and/or viruses? First, use an antivirus, like Trend Micro, to check for viruses and clean your system if needed. Second, try to find the origin of the problems you have and fix them. If this fails, delete the OS (i.e. WINDOWS/WINNT/whatever dir and most of "Program Files" as well as the folder "Documents and Settings" (if available) except for your files (which are in the "Documents and Settings\<user>\My Documents" folder). Then install a new OS (my recommendation would be to install Windows 2000 SP3 with MSIE 6 SP1, the small games compatibility patch, and VDMSound). You don't have to lose all your work and most of your installed programs (to keep some of them from an installation to another you'll have to find and dump registry keys).

Well, also another security measure is to have the HD partitioned into 2 twin halves (mine is partitioned into 3 chunks, 2 with 15 GB and 1 with 8 GB) Save data into a non system partition, and then, format the system partition.

He is cool looking Mel.
XP isnt so bad anymore, I've never had BSOD, or any other typical Windows evils. Occasionallly there will be compatibility probs, but thats not that big of a deal.

IRT Melfice: Yup, you can tell that was influenced by FLCL.
IRT Mitsu-chan: Nope, you have to be registered to the message board to see them.
